In the second game of a double header in Auburndale, Fla., the Cornerstone University Baseball team lost to Olivet Nazarene University 9-4.
Cornerstone had four runs on four hits while making one error. Olivet scored nine runs on eight hits with two errors.
Daniel Marlow started the game on the mound for Cornerstone and got off to a rocky start by giving up a three-run home run in the first inning. He pitched into the third inning before being lifted for Kyle Marburger. Marlow went 2.1 innings giving up five runs, four of which were earned, and striking out four. He was charged with the loss and is now 0-1 this season. Marburger finished the game going 3.2 innings where he gave up four runs on five hits.
The loss brings Cornerstone to 0-5 on the season. Their spring trip will continue on Monday morning with a double header against Evangel University at 9:15 AM in Auburndale, Fla.
