Cornerstone made just 2-11 from long range in the 2nd half and OT periods and Davenport made just 22-40 shots from the foul line in the game.
Derek Kingshott made a layup with 18:58 for the first points of the game and Justin Pepper made it 4-2 with 18:13 on the clock. The both teams went scoreless for the next 2:17 until Shane Moreland drained a 3-pointer with 15:56 on the clock to put CU up 7-4. Neither team could really get it going early on in the first half. The Golden Eagles held a 10-8 lead with 13:01 left in the half. The Panthers made a 8-2 run to take a 18-12 lead about mid-way through the half. The Golden Eagles responded with a 14-6 run over the next five minutes to tie the score at 26-26 at 5:28. Davenport outscored Cornerstone 9-4 to close out the half up 35-30. The Panthers pushed the lead to 7 points early in the second half and then maintained that cushion through the first 4:14 of the second half before Cornerstone made a little run to reclaim the lead (48-47) with 13:19 left in the half. The two heavyweights continue to give their best shots and the two teams traded leads a couple of times and Cornerstone tied the game at 56-56 with 6:46 on the clock. Davenport reclaimed the lead and kept the advantage until Ty Mason sank a couple of foul shots to tie the score at 65 all with :23 seconds on the clock. Davenport came up empty on their final attempt and the game went into overtime. The two teams went back and forth early in the OT and then DU held the lead for most of the overtime period until Wes Hudson drove the baseline and dished a ball off to Derek Kingshott for an easy layup to tie the game (76-76) for the 11th time of the game. DU came up short in a desperation shot and the game went into double OT. Davenport came out and scored early in the 2nd OT and held the advantage early second overtime. Cornerstone looked to be out of the game on a couple of occasions but the Golden Eagles kept battling and Wes Hudson sank a tough 3-pointer and Shane Moreland sank another 3 pointer to keep the Golden Eagles in the game. Davenport made 1 of 2 from the line to give them a 93-91 lead and Wes Hudson's half-court shot hit off the front of the rim to bring the game to a close.
Cornerstone will now have to play the waiting game and hope that they will receive an At-Large berth to the NAIA National Tournament after all of the conference tournaments are completed early next week.
