(Ann Arbor, Mich.) Junior Ashleigh Lund scored a hat trick in Cornerstone's
first win of the season which was also the team's conference opener.
Cornerstone defeated Concordia 3-0 on a beautiful Saturday afternoon. The
Golden Eagles started out well and Lund scored her first goal of the season in
the 6th minute of play. Lund hit a shot off of a cross that hit the left
post in went across the face of the goal. Lund followed up the shot and
put it in the net to give Cornerstone a 1-0 lead. Lund struck again in
the 16th minute by converting a Penalty Kick. Lund was also the one taken
down in the box to be awarded the kick. Lund finished off the scoring by
converting a free kick from about 30 yards out. She sent a ball over the
keeper into the upper right corner of the goal. The Golden Eagles outshot
Concordia 17-4 on the game. Cornerstone improves to 1-3-1 on the season
and will host Davenport on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m.
