Entering the WHAC quaterfinals, the two teams had squared off twice before Thursday night's contest. Both victories went to the hands of the Golden Eagles and the contest looked to be a tough match for CU to win three in a row. After holding a five point halftime advantage, Cornerstone outstretched the Warriors to take a 16 point victory to advance to the WHAC semifinals on Saturday. Cornerstone out-rebounded the visiting team, 41-31, while also tallying 12 steals on the night.
Neither team was able to get a bucket to fall until the Warriors scored with 17:24 on the clock. Cornerstone was able to get on the scoreboard with 17:15 remaining before the half. The remainder of the first half proved to be a close contest with five ties and seven lead changes. However after a 13-5 run during the remaining four minutes until halftime, the Golden Eagles took a 32-27 halftime advantage. Wes Hudson led CU with 14 points while Jordan Hickman notched 11 points for Indiana Tech.
Cornerstone carried the momentum into the second half grabbing a 10 point lead with 18:23 on the clock. The Warriors were able to pull within three with 12 minutes remaining but after a three point shot made by Anthony Allen, Cornerstone took the momentum back and went on a 11-3 run. Cornerstone's biggest lead of the night came with 3:20 remaining when Wes Hudson drove the lane putting the Golden Eagles ahead of the Warriors by 19 points. CU rode the lead and finished the WHAC quarterfinal contest with a 74-58 victory.
After the win, Cornerstone improves to 21-10 overall and will advance to the WHAC semifinal game on Saturday set for 3 p.m.
