The Golden Eagles traveled to Perrysburg, Ohio, for their last regular season conference contest. Cornerstone's strong first half defense and offense helped top the Gray Wolves from Lourdes University. After the win, the Golden Eagles clinch the number four seed heading into the WHAC tournament next week. CU never trailed in the game while shooting a high percentage of 58 from the court.
Two minutes into the game, Cornerstone took the 4-2 lead off a jumper made by Derek Kingshott. From then on, the Golden Eagles played strong defense for the remainder of the second half and with six minutes remaining went on a 9-0 to take a 35-9 advantage. The Gray Wolves started to close the deficit before heading into the locker room but still trailed the Golden Eagles by 22 at the half. Highlighting the half, Hudson notched 15 points while Derek Kingshott grabbed four rebounds.
The second half proved to be the same as the first with Cornerstone holding their biggest lead of the night with 12:44 remaining on the clock. Conor Hogan's layup put Cornerstone up by 29 points. Lourdes pulled within eight, 68-60, with a little less than two minutes remaining in the contest. However, momentum was gained back by Cornerstone when Hudson hit a three point jumper. The Golden Eagles rode the momentum and took a victory for their final regular season conference win, 75-63.
After the win, Cornerstone finishes regular season play with a 20-10 overall record and finishes with a 14-8 conference record. Heading into the WHAC tournament next week, Cornerstone will take the fourth seed and host the fifth seed, Indiana Tech, on Thursday.
The Golden Eagles will host their first round WHAC tournament contest on Thursday when Indiana Tech comes into Mol Arena on Thursday night.
