The Golden Eagles women's basketball took a break from conference play to host Chicago rival, Trinity Christian, on Tuesday night. Robyn Veltkamp led the Golden Eagles with a game-high 20 points while dishing out three assists on the night. Cornerstone shot at a 46.6 percent pace to give them the 73-30 victory.
Trinity Christian gave Cornerstone a push in the first few minutes of play leading the Golden Eagles 4-2. However after a Robyn Veltkamp three point shot, Cornerstone took the lead and never looked back. With seconds on the clock, freshman Kelsey Adamski hit three point shot at the buzzer to give Cornerstone the 32-21 advantage heading into half. During the second half, Cornerstone continued their strong play with a couple big blocks from Jill Steenwyk and Ashley Niedermayer placing them en-route to a 73-30 victory.
After the night, Cornerstone improves to 8-5 overall while the Trolls fall to 2-13 overall.
The Golden Eagles travel Indiana University Northwest on Thursday for a 7 p.m. tip off.
