(Saginaw, Mich.) The Annual Holiday Classic hosted by Saginaw Valley State University once again provided a good opportunity for the Cornerstone University Men's Track & Field team to demonstrate their early season fitness.

Zach Yeo showed he's well-prepared for his senior season by bettering the NAIA national qualifying standard in the 800 meters. Yeo's 1:56.85 was good for 4^th and well under the provisional mark of 1:57.25.

Sophomore, Logan Norton covered all three jumping events. He took 2^nd in the pole vault, clearing 14' 6", second in the long jump reaching 20' 2.5" and 4^th in the triple jump with a mark of 40' 5".

All four CU throwers advanced to the finals in the 35 pound weight throw. Senior Bryant Langdon took 2^nd with a mark of 52' 10.25". Freshman Mike Mahon, moved up to 5^th on his fifth attempt with a toss of 46' .5" while classmate Daniel Door's first trip in the ring resulted in 44' 5.5" throw. In the fourth round, sophomore, Ross Raymond improved his best to 44' 2.5" placing 8^th.

Raymond came within an inch of his best in the shot put. His mark of 43' 10.5" placed 5^th.

Thomas Bambach entered the 3,000 meters with the goal if earning a national qualifying time. After hitting 34 second laps for an opening mile split of 4:38. The sophomore's pace slipped to 36 seconds, then 37 for the 13^th circuit. Needing a strong finish, Bambach closed with a 30.7 second final 200 meters, carrying him past the leader in the final 50 meters, and giving him both the win and a provisional qualifying time of 8:46.07.

Coach Rod Wortley was pleased with what he saw, "This is a nice, low key meet. Our freshmen get to experience collegiate competition and see where they are and many of our upperclassmen pick up from where they left off last season."
