(Saginaw, Mich.) The Cornerstone Women's Track & Field team opened the 2012-13 Indoor season at the Holiday Classic hosted by Saginaw Valley State University.

Sophomore, Brittany Green showed up ready to compete running two personal bests and winning one event with an NAIA national qualifying mark. Green began the afternoon by reaching 18' 1.5" on her second attempt in the long jump. The mark was enough to win the event and just over the NAIA automatic standard of 18'. Teammate Lindsay Lipa took second with a jump of 17' 4.25".

From there, Green and Lipa placed 3^rd and 4^th in the 60 meter hurdle semi-finals. Also advancing was freshman, Rachel McNay. Before the hurdle finals, Brittany and freshman Katie Walker finished 4^th and 8^th in the 60 meter dash semi-finals and advanced with Green running a PR 8.04 and Walker 8.22. In the hurdle finals, Green lowered her best time to 9.37 for 3^rd, Lipa with 5^th in 9.95 and McNay 6^th in 10.05.  Unfortunately for Brittany, the 60 meter dash finals immediately followed the hurdle finals, giving her enough time to walk back to the starting line and get back in the blocks. She placed 6^th in 8.19 while Walker improved to 8.14 for 4^th.

In the throwing events, Haley Russell took 2^nd in the 20 pound weight throw with a 43' 6.5" effort. She also took 3^rd in the shot put with a mark of 36' 2.25".

Freshman Kaitlyn Bronkema took 5^th in the 200 meters, clocking 27.51, one place and 2/100^th ahead of Green's last race of the day.

Kaylee Carew moved to 9^th on the CU all-time list with her 11:00.23 PR in the 3,000 meters. She placed 9^th just ahead of Liz Baller's excellent 11:01.87 debut in the event.

The Golden Eagles finished the evening taking 2^nd  in the 4 x 400 meter relay. Bronkema, Julie Oosterhouse, Lyndee Sayers and Lipa combined to run 4:07.77.
