The Golden Eagles made 18 of 21 shots (85.7%) from the foul line in the game.
Indiana Wesleyan took a three point lead on the first shot of the game but would end up being their only lead of the day. The Golden Eagles would go on a 16-4 run after that and they would keep the lead through the remainder of the game. The Wildcats cut the lead to 26-23 with 3:43 left in the half but the Golden Eagles responded with a 13-5 run to finish the half and took a 37-28 lead into the locker room. Cornerstone still held an 11 point (54-43) lead about halfway through the second half of play but then the Wildcats began cutting into the lead. They whittled the lead all the way down to 63-62 with 53 seconds left but Wes Hudson made a critical reverse layup and a couple of free throws down the stretch to seal the victory for Cornerstone.
The Golden Eagles will have the week off and will return to action next Saturday when they host University of Northwestern Ohio in their WHAC opener at 3:00 p.m.
