After finishing in fourth place in the conference standings, the Cornerstone women's volleyball team (23-9, 8-3 WHAC) is headed to Livonia, Mich., on Friday for the quarterfinals for the 2012 Wolverine-Hoosier Athletics Conference Championship. With first-round matches played on Wednesday at campus sites, Cornerstone was set to face the winner of UNOH-Marygrove match.
University of Northern Ohio blasted past the Mustangs of Marygrove on Wednesday night with a 3-0 sweep. Cierra Anderson notched six serving aces while Emily Crowell attacked at a .571 pace to eliminate Marygrove.
Cornerstone holds a 2-3 record against the Racers of UNOH during the head coach Ryan Campbell era. The Racers look to upset the Golden Eagles after Cornerstone edged UNOH on Oct. 31 in Lima, Ohio. Match time for Friday's rematch is slated for 2:15 p.m.
The Golden Eagles will enter Friday's match after a tough 2-3 loss to Davenport University on November 2 while the Racers enter the match after losing their last two regular season conferences matches to Cornerstone and Indiana Tech.
The winner of the Cornerstone-UNOH match will face the winner of Madonna-Siena Heights on Saturday at 10 a.m. with the finals scheduled for 6 p.m.
