The Cornerstone University volleyball team lost for just the second time this season in league play on Wednesday night, dropping a 3-0 (25-21, 25-22, 25-17) decision at Indiana Institute of Technology. With the loss the Golden Eagles drop to 18-7 overall and 6-2 in conference matches. Indiana Tech improves to an 18-9 overall and 7-1 conference record.
With a couple weeks left for WHAC matches, the Golden Eagles are tied for fourth place with cross town rival, Davenport. The two teams will face each on November 2 at Cornerstone. No. 19 Madonna is on top the league with an undefeated conference record, 8-0.
Cailie Johnson led the squad posting nine kills while Murphy Heyer posted six kills on Wednesday. Kim Weaver was the team leader in assists dishing out double-digits (21). The Golden Eagles had a set-high attacking percentage in set two notching a .132 while holding the Warriors to a .056 percentage in set one. Indiana Tech was led by Kelsey Cox's 10 kills and Darcie Faylor's nine digs.
Cornerstone will take a break from the action this weekend and will be eager to get back on the court. On Wednesday, the Golden Eagles will they host conference foe, Siena Heights University. Match is set for 7 p.m.
