The No. 21 Golden Eagles volleyball squad heads to Joliet, Illinois, this weekend to begin the University of Saint Francis Big Guns Classic. Matches for the Classic are set for Friday and Saturday against Trinity International, Saint Francis, Ashford, and Saint Ambrose. All four matches will be the first time the squad has faced the opponents in the 2012 campaign for Ryan Campbell.
Last year, the Golden Eagles participated in the Big Guns Classic and ended the Classic with a 2-2 record. Cornerstone notched wins against Saint Ambrose (3-2) and Viterbo University (3-2) while falling to Trinity Christian and Saint Francis. Saint Francis will host the rematch on Friday at 9 p.m.
Cornerstone At A Glance
On Wednesday, the squad traveled to UM-Dearborn for their seventh WHAC match. The match ended in favor of the Golden Eagles (3-0) pushing them to 16-4 overall and 6-1 in the WHAC.
-Cornerstone climbed one spot in the NAIA National Rankings to 21st in this week's poll.
-The Golden Eagles hold the 4th spot in the WHAC with a 6-1 record.
-Last year, Cornerstone finished the Big Guns Classic 2-2.
-The squad is on a 4-game winning streak heading into the weekend.
-The Golden Eagles are ranked 15th in the Nation for Kills per Game (13.530).
-The Golden Eagles are ranked 15th in the Nation for Assists per Game (12.440).
-Kim Weaver ranks number 29 in the Nation for Assists per Game (10.100).
-Abby Miedema ranks number 29 in the Nation for Digs per Game (5.070).
