Cornerstone men's soccer goalkeeper Kyle Breckan has been tabbed the NAIA and Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week for games played Sept. 24-Sept. 30. The announcement was made by the conference, Monday. It marks the first time that a Golden Eagles has been named national (NAIA Player of the Week).
Breckan's honor marks the first WHAC player of the week nod of the 2012 Cornerstone season. The senior finished the week by his stellar play in between the pipes, recording two shutouts while making six saves in 194 minutes. Behind Breckan, the Golden Eagles defeated Aquinas in double overtime (1-0) and UNOH (1-0) while advancing to the number one spot in the WHAC rankings. Cornerstone improves to 6-2-1 overall and 3-0 in the conference.
Breckan and the Golden Eagles hope to extend their WHAC win streak tonight, when they travel to Adrian to face Siena Heights. Game time is slated for 7 p.m.
