Scouting the Competition

All four matches this weekend will test the Golden Eagle volleyball squad. The weekend will give Cornerstone a chance to redeem themselves after a 0-3 loss to No. 17 Madonna. The matches will also help Cornerstone receive more votes to improve their national ranking.

The Marian University Knights come into the match holding a 8-6 overall record. The Knights are coming off a loss to No. 10 Indiana Wesleyan (0-3) on Saturday, Sept. 22. Marian has played two other WHAC volleyball squads from Indiana Tech and Davenport. Both matches ended in a loss for the Knights.

The Grace College Lancers come into Friday's match holding a 12-5 overall record in the 2012 season. The Lancers are starting to become nationally recognized highlighting a big win over No. 10 Indiana Wesleyan (3-1) on September 5. Grace comes off a 3-1 win over Saint Francis and look to continue their dominate play against Cornerstone.

No. 23 Taylor University comes into this weekend's tournament with a 12-5 overall record. In the 2012 season, the Trojans have faced seven squads who are either receiving votes nationally or are currently in the top 25 teams in the country. In these seven matches, Taylor holds a 4-3 record against nationally recognized opponents.

Cornerstone's toughest opponent, No. 10 Indiana Wesleyan, enters the tournament coming off a dominant win over No. 18 Indiana East (3-1). The Wildcats hold a 7-1 overall record against nationally recognized opponents this season and look to continue this winning record against No. 22 Cornerstone. The Wildcats are 16-1 overall with their only loss coming to the hands of Grace College (RV).
