The Cornerstone Golden Eagles men's soccer team (3-1-1) hosts Saint Xavier University, Wednesday night. The nonconference match at Cornerstone Stadium is scheduled for 5 p.m., and is part of a double-header with the Cornerstone women's soccer team.
Soaring with the Golden Eagles
Cornerstone will enter Wednesday night's contest looking to continue a three-game winning streak. The Golden Eagles won both of its matches this past week when they faced opponents Goshen College (3-2) and Saint Francis (4-0). Forwards Isaac Grotenhuis and Jacob Stanko have each have netted three goals for the Golden Eagles this season. While midfielder Matt Osorio has posted one assist and two goals. Goalkeeper Kyle Breckan has remained in between the pipes for Cornerstone. Breckan has posted a 0.920 goals-against average while notching two shutouts.
A Look at Saint Xavier
After a 3-2 loss to Spring Arbor this past Saturday, the Saint Xavier Cougars, 3-3, will travel to Cornerstone on Wednesday. Kyle Breitenbach and Luis Medina have each scored a pair of goals for the Cougars this season. Goalkeepers AJ Pfatschbacher and Kyle Held have split time in goal for Saint Xavier. Pfatschbacher has played a total of four games while Held has been in two matches. Pfatschbacher holds a 2.0 goals-against average with 10 saves (.556 save percentage).
Golden Eagles Double-Header
After the men's match, the women will take to Cornerstone Stadium as they host Goshen College. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
A Look Ahead
Cornerstone will look towards the road on Saturday when they play their first WHAC match against Concordia University in Ann Arbor. Game time is slated for 3 p.m.
