PIERSON, Michigan - After big hype between the heated Beltline rivalry of Cornerstone and Davenport, the Beltline Cup left no surprises. The muggy weather did not slow down either golf teams in this sudden-death playoff for not only the Cup but for bragging rights. On Tuesday afternoon during match play, the Golden Eagles were holding onto a lead going into the final two holes. Davenport ended up evening the match after the final two holes 2.5-2.5. However, the Golden Eagles were unable to bounce back after a surging Davenport team and lost in a sudden-death playoff to lose the season-opener.
The Golden Eagles look to bounce back after the disappointing loss on September 8 for the WHAC Jamboree #1 hosted by Siena Heights at Lenawee CC near Adrian, Mich.
