After finishing 4-0 in the 2011 Early Bird Tournament in Dearborn, Michigan, the Golden Eagle squad defeated Indiana University-South Bend (3-0) and had a tough battle in the second match against Point Park University but unfortunately taking a loss (1-3) on the first day of the tournament on Friday, August 24. 

In the IU South Bend match, Murphy Heyer, Chelsea Lake, and Abby Miedema all had 16 digs respectively against the Titans. Cailie Johnson led the team with 18 kills with Heyer and Miedema with a pair of 8 kills. Cornerstone won all three games respectively 25-20, 25-17, 25-14, against the Titans of IU South Bend.

Cornerstone looked to continue their streak at the tournament against Point Park University in the second match of the day at 5:00pm. However, their win streak came to an end from the pesky Pioneers. The Golden Eagles were challenged in their second match after winning the first game 25-18. The Pioneers came back with a strong force and tied the match by winning game two, 20-25, and eventually taking the match with wins in the next two games 22-25 and 23-25. With the loss, Cornerstone takes their first loss of the season and their overall record moves to 1-1. The Golden Eagles look to improve their record today by playing another double header with the Georgetown College Tigers and the Trolls from Trinity Christian College.
