Cornerstone University and head baseball coach David Mitroff are pleased to announce the signing of Nicholas Covello, an infielder from Skillman, New Jersey. Nick is transferring from Millersville University in Pennsylvania where he red-shirted his only year there. Equipped with soft hands and a strong arm, the switch-hitter has the ability to play short, second, or third base. As a high school player in New Jersey, Nick was named second team all-conference as a Junior and Senior.
When asked about his choice to attend Cornerstone University, Nick said, "I chose Cornerstone University because it was clear that God has been leading me and preparing my heart to come here. The University's mission is to place Jesus Christ first, and central above all else, and as a Christian man, this is where I want to be to grow as a follower of Christ. To be able to play baseball in an environment where Jesus Chris is central is all I have prayed for."
Baseball coach David Mitroff said, "We are very excited to sign a player of Nick's caliber this late in the recruiting season. We believe that Nick will thrive in the environment here at Cornerstone and be an integral part of our first-year program. He skill set makes him valuable as he can play a number of positions and can hit anywhere in the lineup. His combination of faith and baseball skills is exactly what we are looking for here at Cornerstone University."
