Cornerstone University and head baseball coach David Mitroff are pleased to announce the signing of Zach Harbison, a catcher from Zeeland, Michigan who most recently played at Jackson Community College. As a sophomore at Jackson, Harbison hit three homers and drove in 21 runs while hitting .258. More than one-third of his hits went for extra bases and he was an outstanding defender behind the plate.
When asked about his choice of Cornerstone University, Zach said, "It was important for me to find a school that had faith in me not only on the field but in the classroom as well. After talking with Coach Mitroff, it was clear that he believed in my academic skills just as much as my baseball ability, making CU the obvious choice. I hope to help lead not just a competitive team, but a championship team. From what I have seen we definitely have the talent to play with anybody in our league. Now I'm at a university where I can develop on the field and in my relationship with the Lord."
Head baseball coach David Mitroff said, "Zach has all the tools to be an impact player for us in our first season. He is a solid defensive catcher with gap to gap power and he brings some toughness and experience to our young squad. We believe that he will help mentor our freshman catchers and assist in the development of a young and talented pitching staff."
