Shane Moreland recently signed his letter of intent to play basketball at Cornerstone University in the fall. The 6-2 combo guard prepped at Flint Powers Catholic High School. Moreland, who was selected as the Flint Player of the Year in 2009, also earned Class B 1st Team All-State his final two seasons at Powers. He averaged 17.5 PPG during his senior campaign while leading his team to the MHSAA Class B State Championship. He also averaged 4.1 APG, 3.1 RPG and led his team with over 3 steals/game during that season.

Moreland also led his Chargers to a Class B State Championship runner-up as a junior while averaging 19.3 PPG. He finished his illustrious career with 1,294 points. He holds the school record at Powers with 214 career steals. He also ended his brilliant three-year varsity career with 308 assists and 221 rebounds. An excellent shooter from behind the arc, Moreland also knocked down 159-3 pointers as well.

Moreland scored double-digit points in 56 consecutive games at FPC while shooting an impressive 56% from the field for his career. He led his team to a 66-13 record during his three seasons on the Chargers' varsity team.

Coach Elders on Moreland: "Shane is a talented player with the ability to score in multiple ways. He's very crafty and is an excellent passer. Shane makes the other players better when he's on the floor. He has a very high basketball IQ and is an unselfish player. Shane is solid defender and has a knack for coming up with steals and loose balls. We're excited to have him in our program."

Moreland on why he chose Cornerstone: "I'm looking forward to playing for Coach Elders and being part of his championship legacy at Cornerstone. My goal is to become the best person and player that I can be. I want to help lead the team back to the National Tournament with a chance to win another championship. Graduating with a degree from CU will be an accomplishment that will be with me forever as I continue down the path that God has created for me. I'm excited for next year to begin."

Shane is the son of Steve and Lori Moreland.
