Cornerstone University and head baseball coach David Mitroff are pleased to announce the signing of Mitchell Swaney, a corner infielder from Tri County High School in Howard City, Michigan. Mitchell hit .403, scored 30 runs, drove in 23 runs, and hit three home runs during his junior season. His senior season was cut short due to a torn ACL; however he has been rehabbing with the hope of being ready to practice at some point in the fall.
When asked about choosing Cornerstone University, Swaney said, "Everything seemed to fall into place at Cornerstone; they got a baseball team and an upgrade in the Media department which were two main factors for me in choosing a college. It's exactly where I felt God was leading me.I'm very excited to meet the guys and build some lifelong friendships, all while working to create a championship winning team that will bring all the glory to God."
Head baseball coach David Mitroff said, "Mitchell is an outstanding young man with a lot of upside and great leadership skills. He was the captain of both his baseball and basketball teams while maintaining excellent grades. He has the ability to play infield or outfield and depending on how he develops, could spend some time on the mound as well. We are looking forward to the different ways that Mitchell will contribute to the Cornerstone University baseball team."
