Although the new Cornerstone University baseball team will not begin until this fall, nine current Cornerstone students have been working extremely hard with the baseball coaching staff to prepare for the 2012-2013 season. The baseball coaches put together a tryout in November and started with 28 players. After two tryouts, cuts were made to bring the total down to nine. Over the course of the spring semester, these nine young men practiced three mornings per week at 6:30 and took part in a Bible study as well.

Paul Freswick, Omari Lewis, and Jared Hinken are three pitchers who made tremendous gains over the spring. Freswick and Hinken are right-handers who possess great stuff while Lewis is a 6'5" lefty with loads of potential and an unwavering work ethic. Adam Brooks has the tools to be an everyday centerfielder here and Adam Homan, another outfielder, has the speed to find his way into the lineup. Josh Ruland is a switch hitting corner infielder with some pop in his bat. Ben Attema is a catcher who has become a very good receiver and continues to lead by example. Mitchell Whitman and Mark Fila are two middle infielders who have solid defensive skills and developing offensive talent. Fila can also help on the mound this year for the Golden Eagles.
