Cornerstone University and head baseball coach David Mitroff are pleased to announce the signing of Travis Royer, an infielder from Twin Valley High School in Elverson, Pennsylvania. While spending time at third base and DH, Royer hit .325 last year while driving in 25 runs and is off to a hot start batting .412 during the first few weeks of this season.
When asked about his decision to attend Cornerstone, Travis said, "Years before hearing about Cornerstone, I dedicated myself to praying Psalm 90. I simplified it into my life by telling people I wanted to live a life that matters. When I visited Cornerstone, Psalm 90 was written on the hallway of Quincer Hall and ‘Live a life that matters' is the school motto. I feel that Christ has been preparing me and leading me to Cornerstone. Also, I want to win a championship, but more importantly I want to do it while bringing Glory to God. Anyone can win, but it is truly special to win with character and integrity."
Head baseball coach David Mitroff said, "Travis Royer is exactly the kind of player we are looking for. He is an amazing student and has a demonstrated faith that no doubt will have an impact on our team, campus, and around the world. He is one of the most physically strong young men I know and the ball explodes off his bat. He comes from a baseball family as his Dad played at the Division I level and has successfully coached at every level of college baseball."
