GOSHEN, Ind. (3/31) After finishing third at the NAIA Indoor T&F Championships in the 3,000 meter race walk, CU sophomore, Monica Lawrence opened her outdoor campaign with a win at the 5,000 meter distance at the Maple Leaf Invitational Hosted by Goshen College.

Under partly sunny skies and a light wind, Lawrence was never challenged during the twelve and one half lap event. Her winning time of 27:40.94 bettered the NAIA provisional qualifying standard. 

Freshman, Brianna Griffiths placed third in 30:52.74.
