The Golden Eagles gave up a run in the first inning today but then held the Wildcats scoreless until the bottom of the fifth inning. Indiana Wesleyan put up three more runs in the fifth and another in the sixth inning to take a 5-0 lead into the seventh inning. The Golden Eagles started the seventh inning with a walk to Jenna Weightman. Tahni Bruno followed that with an infield hit and Heidi Warmelink homered to make it 5-3. Megan Oberst struck out for the first out of the inning. Ashley Niedermayer got a single but Kaitlyn Carlson hit into a game ending double play as the Golden Eagles lost 5-3 in game 1 of the double header.
Indiana Wesleyan scored nine runs in the bottom of the first inning of game 2 and went on to defeat Cornerstone 13-4. Megan Oberst went 2 for 3, scored twice, and had an RBI for the Golden Eagles. Ashley Niedermayer had a hit and 2 RBI's and Kaitlyn Carlson went 2 for 3 with an RBI for Cornerstone. The Golden Eagles drop to 4-16 on the season.
Up next: The Golden Eagles will head back to Indiana to take on Indiana Tech on Tuesday for a 4:00 double header.
