Cornerstone University and head baseball coach David Mitroff are excited to announce the signing of Derrick Lewis, a right-handed pitcher and corner infielder from West Catholic High School in Grand Rapids. Derrick plays club ball with Michigan Elite Baseball and last summer went 4-0 on the mound with a 0.46 E.R.A. while hitting at a .546 clip.
When asked about his choice of Cornerstone University, Derrick said, "After visiting the campus at Cornerstone, I felt like it was a perfect fit; almost like a second home. I hope to continue building a strong relationship with Jesus while striving to reach my full potential on the baseball field."
Coach Mitroff said, "Derrick is someone that we listed as a priority to get here over two months ago. We believe that he will be a great fit here both on and off the field. He has the potential to be a starting pitcher for us at Cornerstone and if he develops like we think, he could compete to be the ace of the staff."
