(Tucson, Ariz.) The Golden Eagles faced Peru State (Neb.) in their first game today. Cornerstone went down 1-0 after the first inning but tied the game 1-1 in the top of the 2nd. Megan Oberst led off with a double and Lauren Pasciak followed her with an RBI double to tie the score. The Bobcats added two more runs in each of the second and third innings to take a 5-1 lead. The game remained 5-1 until the top of the sixth when the Golden Eagles exploded with five runs. Lauren Pasciak hit her second double of the game to put runners on 2nd and 3rd and Lisa Peppel brought them both home with a double to make it 5-3. Kathy DeYoung came into run for Peppel and advanced to 3rd base on a Haley Castillo bunt single. DeYoung scored on error to make it 5-4. Tahni Bruno hit an RBI single to tie the score at 5-5 and Kaitlyn Carlson also hit an RBI single to give the Golden Eagles a 6-5 lead. Heidi Warmelink put the clamp on the Bobcats in the last two innings striking out the last two batters to secure the win for Cornerstone.

The Golden Eagles couldn't score runs in the second game against Patten (Calif.) today. They had eight hits on the day but they couldn't bring any runners home on the day. Patten found a way to combine their hits and made the most of them as they got four of their five hits on the day in the fifth inning and were able to plate two runners to give them a 2-0 lead. Cornerstone did mount a rally in the bottom of seventh inning. Megan Oberst, Lauren Pasciak, and Kathy DeYoung all singled to load the bases with one out but the Golden Eagles failed to bring them home and they lost 2-0 to the Lions.

The Golden Eagles will return to Grand Rapids and will have 17 days off until they host Bethel College on March 27th for a double header beginning at 3:30 p.m.
