(Tucson, Ariz.) The Golden Eagles played Viterbo (WI) in their first game today and lost 4-1 to the V-Hawks. Viterbo scored one run in the first inning and two runs in the third inning to take a 3-0 lead. The Golden Eagles scored their run in the fourth inning. Madison Bucilla hit a double to left field, advanced to 3^rd base on a fielder's choice, and scored on a passed ball. Viterbo added an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth inning and went on to defeat the Golden Eagles 4-1.

Cornerstone faced #15 Olivet Nazarene in the second game of the day and put up a good battle but fell short 4-3 to the Tigers. The Golden Eagles yielded three runs in the bottom of the first inning to go down 3-0 but they responded with two runs in the top of the second inning to make it 3-2. Kaitlyn Carlson started the inning with a double and advanced to 3^rd base on a single by Megan Oberst. Carlson scored on Kathy DeYoung ground out to 2^nd base. Oberst then scored on a Lauren Pasciak single to make it 3-2. ONU scored another run in the bottom of the fourth to make it 4-2. The Golden Eagles made it close by scoring another run in the top of the seventh inning. Tahni Bruno recorded a RBI single in the top of the seventh but that would be all the Golden Eagles could produce and they ended up with a 4-3 loss to Olivet Nazarene.

Cornerstone will return to action on Tuesday when they take on William Penn (IA) and Judson (Ill.).
