Cornerstone University and head baseball coach Dave Mitroff are pleased to announce the signing of his son, David Mitroff. David is a transfer student from Olivet Nazarene University in Kankakee, Illinois where he was the starting catcher. He is making the transition to pitcher and played in the Alaskan league this summer where he posted a 2.75 earned run average in 19.2 innings as a reliever. Possessing a powerful right arm, Mitroff throws in the 88-90 mile per hour range and is working hard to develop his secondary "stuff."
When asked of his decision to transfer to Cornerstone David said, "I knew that if I transferred to Cornerstone I would be able to develop as a pitcher and help contribute to an exciting first year program that stands for something beyond baseball, Christ. I expect to help the team anyway I can on the mound, but most of all, help the young men coming in with growing closer to the Lord and having fun."
Head baseball coach David Mitroff said, "I am ecstatic about getting to coach my son, who has grown into a very Godly man. Beyond that, he is a seasoned, mature college baseball player that brings a lot to the table. I believe he is a great fit for Cornerstone University and will represent our baseball program and school with integrity and class."
