The No. 21 Cornerstone University volleyball squad was victorious once again after welcoming the Warriors from Indiana Tech on Saturday afternoon. The Golden Eagles took a 3-1 victory (25-15, 25-23, 21-25, 26-24). The win is the first time Cornerstone has beaten Indiana Tech since head coach Ryan Campbell took over the program. After the day, the squad is now 19-9 overall and 7-1 during conference play. The Warriors fall to 10-18 overall and 4-4 in the WHAC.
The Golden Eagles were led by three players notching double-digit figures for kills including Cailie Johnson (16), Chelsea Lake (12) and Murphy Heyer (11). Kim Weaver dished out the match-high 46 assists compared to Indiana Tech's Kelsey Fitzpatrick's 23 assists. Lake led all CU players notching 23 digs while Indiana Tech's Taylor Kelso held the game-high 34 digs. Cornerstone had a set-high .321 attacking percentage in set one while holding the Warriors to a .071 percentage in that same set. The Golden Eagles held the team advantage with 12-4 blocks and 85-80 in digs.
Cornerstone will return to the hard-court on Wednesday when they travel to Siena Heights. The match-up is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
