The first half of play was a typical tight game between the Saints and Golden Eagles.  Cornerstone held the lead for most of the half but they never had more than a 5 point advantage.  Ty Mason made it 7-2 just 1:27 into the half and that would be the biggest lead for either team.  Aquinas recaptured the lead with a 3-point shot at 14:07.  Wes Hudson tied the game at 13-13 with 13:28 on the clock.  The teams battled back and forth and the half featured 5 ties and 15 lead changes.  Aquinas finished the half with a 39-37 advantage.  The Golden Eagles came out and tied the score at 41-41 at 18:33.  Tony Larkins gave the Golden Eagles their first lead (48-47) of the second half with 12:47 left and the Golden Eagles went up 53-50 at the mid-way point in the half.  The Saints recaptured the lead for good with 9:21 on the clock.  Aquinas gradually increased their lead throughout the remainder of the half.  Cornerstone was forced to foul late in the half and Aquinas made their foul shots and they went on to defeat Cornerstone 81-69.
