The Golden Eagles shot 38.7% from the field during the game compared to the Crusaders' 43.4% shot percentage during Saturday afternoon in Livonia, Michigan. 


The No. 12 Cornerstone men's basketball team traveled to Livonia, Michigan to face the Crusaders of Madonna University.  The Golden Eagles entered the contest with an overall record of 7-2 and a 4-1 conference record.  Madonna's bench outscored Cornerstone's bench 30 to 14 during Saturday's game to ride an 81-74 upset for the host team.

In the first half, the score went back-and-forth as the teams both held five leads.  The half was highlighted by Cornerstone's biggest lead of four with 02:53 to play; however, Madonna chipped away at the deficit and found themselves leading by one, 39-38, heading into the locker room.  Both teams notched 10 points in the paint while Cornerstone capitalized on six second-chance points.  Justin Pepper helped the Golden Eagles with 10 points.    

The game continued to be close through the second half of the contest but with five minutes remaining the Crusaders grabbed the lead off a Bobby Naubert layup.  Cornerstone pulled within three after a pair of Ty Mason's free throws with 0:17 seconds to play but with clutch free throws made by Madonna, the Crusaders pulled off the upset.  The second half was highlighted by Madonna snatching a 18-8 points in the paint advantage.

Following the loss, Cornerstone drops to 7-3 overall and 4-2 in conference play.  While Madonna advances to 7-4 overall and 4-2 in the WHAC.     



The Golden Eagles will host a non-conference contest on Thursday when Kuyper College comes into town on December 13.  Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m
