The Golden Eagles made the short trip over to Aquinas to play the rival Saints on a cold rainy October day.  The rain did stop right before the first half of play and didn't come back until the second half of play.  The goals were much the same.  Neither team generated a lot of chances in the first half and the teams went into halftime scoreless.  The rain and the goals picked up in the second half of play.  Aquinas got on the board first in the 58th minute of play.  The Golden Eagles didn't get a ball cleared and Melissa Hogan made Cornerstone pay with the first goal of the game.  Cornerstone picked up the intensity and attacked better after the goal and Amanda Van Laar tied the score at 1-1 with a left footed shot from just outside the penalty box in the lower right side of the goal.  Cornerstone kept attacking and pressing forward for the next 20 minutes.  The Golden Eagles got the game winner with just about eight minutes left on the clock.  Aquinas was whistled for a foul about 15 yards from the midfield line.  Anna Stegink played and beautiful ball into the Saints box and Kate Weigman made a diagonal run into the face of the goal and headed the ball by the Saints goalkeeper for the game winner..  Cornerstone improves to 11-2 on the year and 3-1 in the WHAC.  Cornerstone will return to action on Wednesday at 4:00 against  Siena Heights in another key game for the Golden Eagles.
